Philip Gerner

Philip H. Gerner III counsels and represents school districts and community colleges in collective bargaining negotiations, IELRB proceedings, teacher evaluations, remediations and dismissals, employee discipline and discharge, and grievance arbitration. Phil has represented educational employers in labor arbitrations, unfair labor practice hearings, tenured teacher dismissals, and IDHR/EEOC proceedings, and has successfully handled appellate appeals on significant issues for educational employers, including bargaining unit exclusion standards and reduction-in-force of tenured teachers. As a Partner of the firm, he is known for providing practical, effective solutions to challenging labor and personnel issues.
